The US National Security Agency (NSA) identified a security vulnerability in Windows operating systems that impacts Windows 10, Windows Server 2019, and Windows Server 2016. Microsoft in response released a security update to address the potential impact of the bug.

The Security Concerns

According to Microsoft, these are the potential exploits attackers could launch against this vulnerability named, CVE-2020-0601:

  • Malicious files could take on the appearance of being from a “trusted, legitimate source.”
  • Confidential information on user connections could be decrypted.
